Paula Abdul Continues to React to Stalker’s Death
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Video,
There are both perks and peril associated with being a celebrity, and often the public gets to see both sides of the sordid tale. Reality shows and paparazzi depict some celebs, like Britney Spears, enjoying free swank and designer labels. The grim news often shows a darker side of celebrity love and obsession. American Idol judge Paula Abdul has experienced both sides of this coin, and she’s still shaken up by recent events.
Paula Goodspeed, 30, killed herself in front of Abdul’s California home just last month. The event occurred after Goodspeed reportedly stalked the star. After the suicide, Abdul released a statement to the press conveying “shocked and saddened” feelings.

American Idol’s New Spin: Go For the Tears!
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Ratings, Rumors,
Every year, someone at FOX gets the idea to slightly (or hell, strongly) tweak the country’s most popular show. One year it’s a difference at Hollywood Week, an emphasis on back story or even the addition of musical instruments. This year, American Idol will be truly fundamentally different for the first time. What can fans expect from the new season?
In addition to a new judge at the table (a shocking casting decision which will dramatically change the chemistry of the show), FOX promises this year’s contestants will be even more “emotional.” If you didn’t get enough tears out of Brooke White last year, this news is sure to please.

Promotions Begin for American Idol 8
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol,
Now that Dancing with the Stars has officially wrapped up, it’s time to shift our focus back to reality television’s reigning giant: American Idol.
With only 6 weeks left to go until the January premiere, promotion for Season 8 has officially begun. On today’s episode of The View, Randy Jackson tried to put everyone at ease about the new judging addition. When asked if Kara DioGuardi was brought in because of an eventual Paula departure, the producer quickly shrugged off the rumor and told everyone not to “believe what you hear or read.”
But should Paula decide to pursue “other ventures” as is speculated, would she even be missed? That’s hard to say. But in a recent interview with Extra!, Simon Cowell was actually kind enough to pay Kara a compliment. “She’s mouthy, this girl. I’m beginning to warm to her… I think she knows what she’s talking about,” he admitted.

American Idol: Soon to Be Abdul-Free?
Posted by K.C. Morgan Categories: Music, Prime Time, Reality, FOX, American Idol, Gossip, Rumors,
When word spread that the minds behind TV’s most popular show were adding a new female judge, the rumors quickly started that the “old” female judge is on the way out as a result. Thanks to some recent comments and movements made by Paula Abdul, gossip that she could be leaving American Idol are flying again. Only this time, they may have some basis in the truth.
OK! Magazine reports that Paula Abdul is going to “transition” out of Idol, and one source is quoted as saying the singer has a “new, secret venture” in the works. It can only be assumed this venture is not Paula Abdul’s RAH Cheerleading Bowl, which everyone already knows about. This cheer competition will air on MTV on Jan. 1.
Abdul, 45, had “no comment” on the rumors reported by OK!. It could be that a four-person panel is just too crowded for Paula, who has long lorded as the only female in the permanent cast. Kara DioGuardi will join the judges at the Idol table for the first time this year.
Last year, it was reported that American Idol was not-so-quietly polling viewers, asking them questions on every cast member and facet of the show. Could it be that Paula’s results weren’t so great? The show will premiere on January 13, though there’s no word on which members of the judging panel will be viewable in the first few (casting) episodes.

“It’s like, you know, having dinner with three people for seven tears, and getting quite bored of each other,” Simon Cowell told reporters recently on the subject of new American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi, the first time the new foursome has appeared in front of the media together. “I think it’s gonna be interesting…And, she’s cute,” Cowell added.
Paula Abdul said that Kara “will be speaking her mind,” on the show. “That’s a nice way of saying she’s bitchy,” Cowell interjected.

American Idol Adds Fourth Judge

Could Paula Abdul be fighting more than just Simon Cowell next year?
Just hours after reporting that changes would be coming, it’s been announced that American Idol will be add a fourth judge next year. Someone who will be there permanently.
For the singing competition’s eighth season, fans will be introduced to Kara DioGuardi, a highly-respected songwriter/producer. As it turns out, DioGuardi already has a history with the reality show having written tunes for former contestants. Kara - whose songs have appeared on more than 100 million records - was behind such tracks as “Walk Away” (Kelly Clarkson) and “Love Story” (Katharine McPhee). Her name is also attached to hits by a number of other musicians including Christina Aguilera (“Ain’t No Other Man”), Gwen Stefani (“Rich Girl”), Ashlee Simpson (“Pieces of Me”) and Enrique Iglesias (“Escape”).

The Latest Dancing with the Stars Rumors
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, Rumors,
Since our last report two weeks ago, the latest Dancing with the Stars rumors have been dished out a rapid pace. And we still have another two weeks to go until the final cast is announced!
According to TMZ, Toni Braxton will be one of the competitors hitting the floor this fall. If the buzz is true, this decision would be very interesting considering the singer’s recent issues. Braxton was forced to cancel her Las Vegas show back in May citing health reasons. (While the specific problem was not revealed, Toni has been treated for hypertension and pericarditis in the past.)

Paula Abdul Cancels Concert Again
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Music, FOX, NBC, American Idol, Cancellations,
Apparently four extra months of rehearsal time wasn’t simply enough.
Although she was given a second chance to participate in Today‘s Summer Concert Series, Paula Abdul has just gone two-for-two. The American Idol judge has just canceled her live gig scheduled for August 29. This show-stopping move comes months after she was slated to perform on April 25.
Predictably, Abdul once again blames other commitments (this time for the FOX) as the reason for the decision. (As if the producers weren’t given plenty of notice about her morning show appearance.) Of course, an insider claims Paula’s busy calendar wasn’t really the issue. “Please. She can’t perform live. Her voice on the single is so mixed and electronicized you don’t know what she really sounds like any more,” said a source.
Wow. While I admittedly thought it was funny that Justin Guarini was doing free shows on Universal’s CityWalk, I must say he has now just earned a bit more of my respect. At least he has the guts to show up and face the public!

Celebs Turning Down Dancing with the Stars
Posted by Veronica Santiago Categories: Prime Time, Reality, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, Rumors,
Although we’re still weeks away from finding out Dancing with the Stars’ next lineup, speculation about the latest cast has been growing for months.
Already we’ve heard about Paula Abdul’s interest and Lance Bass’ possible male partner. Just recently Kim Kardashian’s name was even thrown into the mix. And while there are many D-Listers who would kill for a chance to revive their career, there are some D-Listers who apparently don’t want to risk the embarrassment.
In an interview with Extra, comedienne Kathy Griffin admitted that she had received a “hard offer” to compete on ABC hit. Surprisingly, she doesn’t intend to accept. “No! I can’t even touch my toes!” (Isn’t this the kind of publicity she would normally force her assistants to create?) Meanwhile, a rep for Dan Quayle also confirmed that the former VP had been approached about the show. (He, thankfully, declined the request as well.)
